The Common Core State Standards Overview

Solar Eclipse

Welcome to Montclair High School, home of the Cavaliers, for the 2017-2018 school year! This past year we received many awards such as: Gold Ribbon School, US News and World Report Silver Medalist, Avid National Demonstration School, and Title 1 Academic Achievement School.  We are excited to have to another successful year and are working to ensure that a positive educational environment is provided to all students.   We are in our second year of CAV Academy model, which provides our students with more opportunities to be successful. (Please see CAV Academy tab for more info).

School begins on Monday, August 7, 2017. Please see registration information below for schedule distribution dates and freshmen orientation.

With extensive Advanced Placement and Honors courses, along with our premier National Demonstration AVID curriculum, our students will be challenged and prepared for the future of college and careers.  One of our focus areas is to continue to increase the number of students fulfilling the A-G requirements to be eligible for UC or Cal State University admittance.

Our athletic teams are very competitive and will fight for league championships! Students have a multitude of opportunities to be successful through our activities and afterschool programs.

We will have several facility upgrades such as a resurfaced new track, in school colors, in our stadium.  Most of our school will be repainted during the summer as well.

I encourage all parents and students to review the information found on this website. It contains valuable information regarding school rules, policies, procedures, and important dates.  This website is constantly updated to provide you with the most current information.

It is important that students attend school regularly and establish a homework routine that will foster academic success.  With this in mind, it is important to arrive at school on time, complete all homework assignments and be prepared with all books and supplies.  Students are also asked to seek out their counselor with questions regarding academic progress and continue to excel on all standardized exams.  It is important all students/parents register for and use School Loop to stay informed on academic progress and attendance.  It is an excellent tool to communicate with all aspects of the school.

All students need to consider participating in an extracurricular activity, be it athletics or clubs.  Research shows that students that are active in activities while in high school perform better in their studies.  We have a plethora of clubs for students to build a stronger connection with our school.

I look forward to the upcoming year as we embark on this journey together in preparing Montclair High School students for the future. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the school.

Go Cavs!

CAV Academy

Montclair High School is excited to announce the inception of our CAV Academy for the 2016-2017 school year. Our goal is to increase student achievement by offering more individualized help from teachers and peers and by helping students build social relationships at school through extra time that will be built in within the school day!  The Academy Schedule involves four components: CAV Core, CAV SSR, CAV Tutorial, and CAV Enrichment.  Students will be placed into one of these four areas during Academy time. Course adjustments will take place every 9-weeks.
